Decaentolaical Argument

How the Ten Commandments have been modified.

In this episode, we're diving into the fascinating topic of how the original Ten Commandments given by God to Moses, found only in the Old Testament, have undergone some intriguing modifications: 1. The second commandment was removed, and the tenth commandment was split. 2. There are references to other gods in the Ten Commandments. 3. The day of worship was also changed. 4. Prokynesis, or the ritual of worship through kissing, kneeling, or bowing to Jesus and other images at the altar, is a practice borrowed from paganism that contradicts God's command. 5. Swearing, blasphemy, and cursing go against God's commandments. 6. Giving money to the church in the name of God is a grave sin that contradicts God's commandments. The Argument of Decaentolaical, also known as the Ten Commandments Argument, is a philosophical argument originally crafted by a Filipino atheist, pointing out changes in the Ten Commandments and God's violation of his own laws. According to the Bible, if the "gospel" is altered, adjusted, reduced, or added to by anyone for any reason, it is no longer the true gospel. It is no longer the truth. And those who use the false gospel will be cursed for life, consumed by the fire of hell, and cursed by God forever (Galatians 1:8-9). The Greek term for "Ten Commandments" is Δέκα Εντολές (Dekalogos Entolai). This phrase combines δέκα (deka), meaning "ten," and ἐντολές (entolai), meaning "commands." The argument unfolds as follows: 1. If the Ten Commandments are moral laws from God. 2. However, God himself violates them, which is a sin. 3. Therefore, God has no morality. 4. And consequently, he is also a sinful being. **Judaism**: - In Judaism, the Ten Commandments are central to the Torah and can be found in both Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. Here are the original commandments given to Moses by God : 1. I am the LORD your God. 2. You shall have no other gods before me. [combined with the first, indicates other gods] 3. You shall not take the name of the LORD in vain. [offering] 4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. [The Sabbath day was changed from Saturday to Sunday by Constantine]. 5. Honor your father and your mother [this became number 4 in the New Testament]. 6. You shall not kill. 7. You shall not commit adultery. 8. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 10. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife or belongings. [split into two]. **Catholicism**: - The Catholic Church holds the Ten Commandments in high regard, and they are listed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. However, there are slight differences in the ordering: 1. I am the LORD your God. You shall have no other gods before me. 2. You shall not take the name of the LORD in vain. 3. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 4. Honor your father and your mother. 5. You shall not kill. 6. You shall not commit adultery. 7. You shall not steal. 8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. 10. You shall not covet your neighbor's goods. **Protestant**: - Most Protestant denominations follow a division similar to the Jewish tradition but with slight changes in wording: 1. You shall have no other gods before me. 2. You shall not make for yourself a carved image [idolatry]. 3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. 4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 5. Honor your father and your mother. 6. You shall not kill. 7. You shall not commit adultery. 8. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 10. You shall not covet. **Explanation**: 1. **Second Commandment on Idolatry**: In some Christian traditions, especially the Catholic Church, the commandments are grouped and numbered slightly differently compared to Jewish and Protestant traditions. The commandment against making carved images and idolatry is combined with the first commandment about having no other gods. This might give the impression that the second commandment was removed, but in reality, its content is still present, just grouped differently. - **Splitting of Coveting Commandments**: To maintain the count of ten commandments, the commandment about coveting is often split into two separate commandments in these traditions: - You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. - You shall not covet your neighbor's property. 4. The commandment against making carved images has been a point of contention, especially during the period of iconoclasm when the use of religious images was debated. 5. **Curses from God**: - **Adam and Eve**: God cursed Adam and Eve to endure various hardships, such as the pain of childbirth, after they disobeyed God's command by eating the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:16-19). - **The Serpent**: The serpent that tempted Eve was cursed by God to crawl on its belly and eat dust (Genesis 3:14). - **The Curse on the Ground**: After Adam and Eve's sin, God cursed the ground to produce thorns and thistles, making farming difficult (Genesis 3:17-18). - **The Curse on Cain**: After Cain killed his brother Abel, God cursed him to be a restless wanderer on the earth (Genesis 4:11-12). - **The Fig Tree**: Jesus cursed the fig tree for not bearing fruit, and it withered (Mark 11:12-14, 20-21). 6. **Bible Verses Emphasizing the Unchanging Nature of God's Word**: 1. Deuteronomy 4:2: > "Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you." 2. Deuteronomy 12:32: > "See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it." 3. Proverbs 30:5-6: > "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar." 4. Revelation 22:18-19: > "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll." 5. Galatians 1:8-9: > "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God's curse!" These verses emphasize the importance of maintaining the integrity of God's word as presented in the scriptures. 6. **Galatians 1:8-9 (NIV)**: "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God's curse!" In this episode, we have proven that the Ten Commandments of God have been changed, adjusted, reduced, or added to by anyone for any reason and are no longer the true gospel. It is no longer the truth. Therefore, the Bible says that those who preach a gospel different from what God has preached will be under God's curse! I repeat, if anyone preaches to you a gospel other than what God has given, let them be under God's curse!"(Galatians 1:8-9). In our next episode, we'll tackle the question of whether God is truly all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good, perfect in all, and present everywhere. If we can prove that this is not true, then it means God does not exist either.
